New video games coming out this week | Call of Duty: WW2, Bubsy, Lost Dimension

Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back – October 31, PS4, PC

If you had said in 1996, when the last Bubsy game came out, that the next Bubsy game would be releasing in 2017, you’d be laughed out of the room. But here we are, apparently a new  Bubsy game is coming out.

Developed by Black Forest Games, developers behind Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams (and clearly developed to be similar in gameplay and visual style),  Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back is a platformer where you, as Bubsy, must collect yarn and get your revenge on the Woolies for stealing all the yarn. The original Bubsy games didn’t really have much charm or substance, and this new entry seems to be at least somewhat self aware in that regard.

Call of Duty: WW2 – November 3, PS4, Xbox One, PC

The biggest release for this week, and this first major title to come out in November, is Call of Duty: WW2. While recent Call of Duty games have been going further and further into the future, with sci-fi weapons and technology, they’re now going back to the past, to its roots in WW2 warfare.

Developed by Sledgehammer Games, the team behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (alongside Infinity Ward) and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, it’s the first Call of Duty game to be set in WW2 for almost a decade. Set in Europe, on the Western Front, it’s very much a Call of Duty game. In single player, you’ll be running from cover to cover, shooting baddies (with some changes, such as the removal of health regeneration and instead a reliance on health packs and medics. It is, though, very much a Call of Duty game.
